Mr. & Mrs. Howell | A Hometown Rustic Wedding

You guys, we have had the grand pleasure and we mean GRAND pleasure of photographing several other photographers’ wedding days this year. We are asked often, “Does it freak you out to shoot for another photographer?!” And my response is always a big, fat NO! Our photographer brides are some of our favorite brides, and are very near and dear to our hearts. Not only do a we automatically have a TON in common, but when a photographer chooses another photographer it is because they have the utmost trust for that person. They choose that photographer based on the knowledge that on their wedding day…. photography is something that they literally won’t have to worry or think twice about. They are giving up their usual job for the day to be the bride, to soak in their day, knowing and trusting that we will take care of the moments being captured. I also get so excited to show our photographer brides the result because when we ask them to do weird things or pose them or their details in odd places- THEY KNOW there’s a reason and that it’s going to be GOOD!!! All that to say… let’s chat about Rebekah and Nathan now! 🙂 (See Rebekah’s beautiful work here!)

Rebekah & Nathan met a few years ago while doing one of their absolute favorite shared activities…. hiking. It was definitely one of those love at first sight scenarios, and throughout the following month- they were pretty much inseparable. Nathan went the extra mile in his pursuit of Rebekah’s heart, and after asking her dad for permission to date her and then giving Rebekah a token hand crafted ring- they officially became boyfriend and girlfriend! *cue all the AWWWWWS!!!* Everybody, especially Rebekah, knew that Nathan’s heart was in this relationship for the long haul. Two and a half years later, Nathan asked for Rebekah’s hand in marriage on top of Iron Mountain, the same place where they first laid eyes on each other. Of course… she said yes, and the wedding planning began!!

Rebekah and I had been chatting about us doing their wedding photography for quite some time before they were officially engaged. (Because what girl doesn’t start planning her wedding just a little bit before the ring is actually on?! Haha!) So one evening I was taking a bath and then received an Instagram notification from Rebekah. I opened my messages to find a sweet video of her saying “Hi… guess what?!” and then she showed me her hand with a GORGEOUS ring on her finger!!! I screamed and almost dropped my phone in the bath because I was SO excited!! Sean ran into the bathroom and said “IS EVERYTHING OKAY?!” And I responded, “IT’S OFFICIAL!!! THEY’RE ENGAGED!!!!”

September 7 was a very special day for these two. Not only was it their beautiful wedding day, but it was also Rebekah’s Grandma & Grandpa Glaser’s anniversary. Grandpa Glaser passed away five years ago, and Rebekah was very close to them. She truly honored their love and legacy on this day, and you will see it throughout this blogpost. We loved everything about this beautiful Oregon wedding- the rain, the burst of sunshine towards the evening, the muddy dress, the heirlooms and all the sweet details, the amazing people… and most importantly, we loved how much God was honored on this day. Together with their families and all their guests, before being pronounced husband and wife, Rebekah and Nathan sang a cappella style, “How Great Thou Art.” And friends… our God is truly great! We hope you enjoy seeing Rebekah & Nathan’s incredible wedding day from our perspective!

WARNING: Ya’ll are going to need to prepare yourselves to see a beautiful wedding dress get very muddy in this blog post!!! Several people were sad to see how dirty her dress became, but Rebekah’s response was simply “I legit didn’t are about the mud! I’m a farm girl through and through and it just felt right and totally ‘me’ to have a muddy dress!” Never have I ever heard that sentiment in my entire career, but it’s one of the many, many reason this girl has stolen our hearts!! And obviously Nathan’s…. <3

O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder – Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder – Thy power throughout the universe displayed

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee –
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee  – How great Thou art, how great Thou art

And then we snuck away for their official husband and wife portraits… and it was AMAZING!

Rebekah & Nathan: You guys!!!! We are so beyond thankful that you trusted us to capture such an important time in your lives. This is just the beginning!!!
