Back in December, I (Kalahan) had the amazing opportunity to capture Marvin’s proposal to Karissa in front of Castle Craig in northern California. It was such an honor to not only capture that precious moment, but to witness it. Sean and I love what we do for many reasons- but truly one of the biggest of all is that we get the privilege of WITNESSING love stories come alive before our very own eyes. And even better- we get to press PAUSE on those moments.

The next time we met was in Portland for their engagement session. We had such a blast together adventuring around Cathedral Park, even going as far to “risk our lives” for the shot on the beautiful St. John’s Bridge. We bonded over many things- our deep love for sound theology, basic phones instead of smart ones, Sean and Karissa are both teachers… etc. With all that said, we could not WAIT for their incredible California wedding day.

So last weekend we packed our bags and flew to Sacramento to capture their big day! Marvin and Karissa’s wedding was absolutely lovely from start to finish. Karissa and her bridal party were so intentional with all of the little details- it truly was a gorgeous spring wedding! Their beautiful color palette, their hand-made bouquets, the jewelry, her dress, and don’t get us started on the venue… it was all amazing! <3 Did I mention the size of their bridal party!? Sean and I also had 10 on each side… however photographing it was a whole new ball game! But we loved EVERY minute of it. Each and every person apart of Marvin and Karissa’s day was amazing- we loved the bride and groom (obviously), their epic bridal party, their amazing families, and all of the other wonderful vendors and creatives involved.
